ok, this is really freaky, but totally true:
In the opening scene when the dude is writing a check for his Half/Half, it is dated for Sept. 11th, 1991. Exactly ten years before the terrorist attacks. What makes it even more interesting, is George W Bush's father is on TV in the background talking about Iraq. That must be the connection between Al Quaeda and Iraq W is always talking about.
but seriously though, check it out by freeze framing the DVD

Another question is, maybe the Cohen brothers altered that scene secretly before the DVD release? -

Operation Desert Storm (the war) started with bombing on January 16, 1991 (I'll never forget it - I heard the news that the bombs were dropping when I arrived at the AC/DC concert I was attending that night). Iraq had agreed to cease fire terms by March of '91.

or maybe they were a part of al quaeda, and they used this detail as a signal to the fellow al quaedans.... -
