At the end of the movie, The Stranger talks about how things worked out well for the dude. But did they? His house got trashed, his car destroyed, his buddy died, nobody paid him anything, and he NEVER GOT A REPLACEMENT RUG! What gives?

Wed, May 12, 2004 - 10:59 AMThat's why he's the Dude, man!
The Dude: "I was feeling really shitty earlier in the day, I'd lost a little money, I was down in the dumps.
Tony: "Aw, forget about it."
The Dude: "Yeah, man! Fuck it! I can't be worrying about that shit. Life goes on!" -

Thu, May 13, 2004 - 4:58 AMHey, you can get a new rug.
Once the johnson's gone, it's gone, man.
I guess you could get it surgically reattached, but it wouldn't be the same.
Hate to make it sound like I think the rug's no big deal...'Cause that's not what I think. It's just...you know. He could have had his dick cut off.
If I was The Dude, I'd be pleased that all I lost was a rug.

Thu, May 13, 2004 - 1:51 PMWhat about Donnie? WHAT ABOUT DONNIE???
He was such a good bowler, and apparently a surfer as well as we learned at the end of the movie. -

Sun, May 16, 2004 - 12:34 AMMan, The Dude was unemployed, how's he going to buy a rug?
Besides, the nihilists wouldn't have cut his johnson off, they're cowards. -
