Disappearing pomeranian

So, last night I'm watching The Big Lebowski for about the zillionth time, and it gets to the "mark it zero" scene, and as they're leaving the bowling alley, my cohort Launchpad and I simultaneously notice something we never noticed before: the pomeranian dog just kind of disappears when they get to the car.

The dog isn't in the carrier when they go outside - he's running along and yapping. Then when they get to the car, Walter puts the empty carrier on the roof, puts his bowling ball and the carrier in the back seat, and gets in the car. One could assume the dog jumped in the back, but there's no sign of him and he isn't yapping anymore.

Doh! Perhaps the sequel to Lebowski will be "Lebowski II: The Case of the Missing Pomeranian"

Yeah...I know exactly what you're talking about.

One of those continuity/editing foul-ups, is my guess. They just didn't catch it before the film came out.

Although that would have been a very entertaining sub-plot: how Walter explains to his wife that the show dog is now a parking-lot pancake...But then again, the dog shows up later in the film, so that's only wishful thinking on my part (to put it mildly, I'm not fond of tiny, yappy dogs).

I know it's just a continuity error, but it was just the weirdness of only just now catching it when I have watched it soooo many times...and I too liked the idea of having to see Walter explain what happened to the fucking show dog with the fucking papers. :)

Yeah, That was pretty disturbing that we had never caught that before when we watched the show times past. Mattbear and I were just sitting there watching the Big Lebowski and Walter and the dude walk out with the pomeranian following and POW.. hes gone.. Walter NEVER picked him up, but threw the carrier in the back seat..

    Wierd.:)
